Rapid Responses for Communities to Address the Housing Apocalypse (Part 1)

Due to Covid-19, millions are behind in rent or mortgage payments. Cities, and rural areas, are filled with people under DEEP financial stress. There is minimal cushion, but dire consequences. Landlords too are in difficult times, especially small-scale property owners who purchased houses as investment properties. Unable to collect rent, their inability to make mortgage payments places them at risk of foreclosure. Meanwhile, financial institutions fear loans will default resulting in them holding countless properties no one can afford to live in.

After spending months scanning the globe to find promising innovations to support increases in naturally affordable housing, the team working on the virtual summit identified five strategies that communities could embrace to greatly reduce the damage of navigating forward through the crisis.
